Check out the winning Design a Lorry entries!

In summer 2021 we challenged young people aged 5–14 to get creative and design an Aldi lorry that celebrates fresh, healthy food.

With over 24,500 entries and a high standard throughout, our judging panel of representatives from Team GB and Aldi had a tough job selecting just two winners.

The panel looked for designs which were creative and exciting, celebrated what's great about fresh healthy food, and were eye-catching and able to stand out on an Aldi lorry.

The two winning designs came from Isabella, aged five from Edinburgh, and Rebecca, aged six from Buckinghamshire, whose designs can now be seen on their own Aldi lorry!

Team GB athletes Max Whitlock and Jack Carlin unveiled the winning designs at Isabella’s and Rebecca’s school, as well as stopping by for a Q&A session with their class.

Tokyo 2020 gold-medalist Max Whitlock said: “It was great to see so many pupils and young people across the country get involved in the competition. Selecting just two winners from a pool of more than 24,500 entries wasn’t easy, but Isabella’s and Rebecca’s designs really stood out to us. We loved the bright, colourful and beautifully drawn fruit and vegetables on both.”

The prizes

As well as seeing their winning design on an Aldi lorry, their schools – Clifton Hall School in Edinburgh and Whitchurch Combined School in Buckinghamshire – will also receive £1,000 in Aldi vouchers each.

Well done once again to each of our winners and a big thank you to everyone who entered Design a Lorry! We loved seeing all your designs and hope you all enjoyed taking part.

The shortlist

Choosing from the incredible 24,500 excellent entries was very tough. However, in addition to our two winners, after long and careful deliberation, our panel of judges narrowed the selection to our final shortlist of just 16 entries from schools up and down the country. A massive congratulations to those who made the list – your shortlisted certificates will be arriving soon!
