Design a lorry competition

Can you design a lorry to celebrate fresh, healthy food? Your design could appear on an Aldi lorry and win £1,000 Aldi vouchers for your school! 

To celebrate Tokyo 2020, Aldi and Team GB are challenging young people aged 5–14 to get creative and design a lorry that celebrates everything great about fresh, healthy food. The two winners (one from England and Wales and one from Scotland) will see their designs on an Aldi lorry and could win £1,000 of Aldi vouchers for their school! Entries (Entry Templates WITH a Cover Sheet) must be received by Friday 25 June 2021.

Key learnings

  • Exploring foods that supports good health and the benefits of a balanced diet.
  • What might impact our own and other people's thoughts and choices about food and how we can celebrate healthy food together.
  • Ways of generating creative ideas and incorporating feedback to create an eye-catching design.

Entering the competition

  • The judging panel are looking for designs that are creative and exciting, celebrate what's great about fresh healthy food, and are eye-catching and able to stand out on an Aldi lorry.
  • Enter using the Design a Lorry Entry Template (completed by the student) and Cover Sheet (completed by a teacher or parent/carer, one per batch of entries). See Student Resources below to download.
  • Send your completed Entry Template and Cover Sheet via post or email. Post your entries to Design a Lorry Competition, The Education Company Denne Court, Oad Street, Hengist Field Borden, Kent, ME9 8LT or email them to info@getseteatfresh.co.uk

Activity ideas

Introduce the Design a Lorry competition with the Competition Presentation (download from the Student Resources below), which includes optional classroom activities exploring healthy eating, celebrating foods with different audiences and design.

WIN GREAT PRIZES 

There are loads of great prizes on offer for our two lucky winners! 

  • The two winning designs will each be used on an Aldi lorry – driving their celebration of healthy foods up and down the country!
  • The two winners will also receive £50 of Aldi vouchers for themselves, £1,000 of vouchers for their school (or a community group to be agreed with Aldi and Team GB if the winner is home schooled) and a Team GB goody bag!  

ENTERING THE COMPETITION

The competition is open to all students aged 5–14 resident in England, Wales or Scotland and in Years 1–9 (England and Wales) or P1–S2 (Scotland). 

  • Students should complete an Entry Template with their design and details, which will be used to process their entry. 
  • Entries must be submitted with a Cover Sheet for Entries. The Cover Sheet can be completed and sent by a teacher, parent or carer. 
  • Entries can be sent via post or email and must be received by Friday 25 June 2021.
